Hampapura village is situated at a distance of about 5 kms from chikmagalur town towards north of Beekanahalli village. The population of the village is 687 as per census 2001, The population of the village and growth rate is indicated in the above table. From 1991 to 2001 there is an increase of households from 101 to 139. Hence seeing the growth rate from 1961 to 2001, there is a gradual increase, where the growth rate has increased as well as decreased .But there is positive trend.

 

The occupation pattern describes the economic status of the village. Seeng the occupation structure of the village it is mainly depended on primary sector that is cultivation and agricultural laborers. Proportion of cultivators is 40.2%, out of which 50.2% are males compared to total population. Cultivation involves ploughing, sowing, harvesting and production of cereals and millet crops such as wheat, paddy, jowar, bajra, ragi, etc., and other crops such as sugarcane, tobacco, ground-nuts, tapioca, etc., and pulses, raw jute and kindred fibre crop, cotton, cinchona and other medicinal plants, fruit growing, vegetable growing or keeping orchards or groves, etc. Cultivation does not include the following plantation crops - tea, coffee, rubber, coconut and betel-nuts (areca).

 

Agricultural laborers are 43.8%, out of which 36.1% are males and 74.5% are       females compared to total population. A person who works on another person's land for wages in money or kind or share is regarded as an agricultural laborer. (S) He has        no risk in the cultivation, but merely works on another person's land for wages. An      agricultural laborer has no right of lease or contract on land on which (s) he works.

 

  From the above table-13   we can see the sex ratio of the village is 946 which is less compared to the Chikmagalur which is 957.But sex ratio between 0-6 is 952 where u can see female’s persons are more. Hence women related policies and house hold         industries can be adopted.
